When the Donaldson’s lived here, this area was all farmland, however, it has changed many times over the years. Lois Pattillo Bannister built elaborate gardens in the area, with boxwoods and peonies, along with a variety of brick paths leading to the brick wall that still stands today. The brick wall previously had a fountain with a goldfish pool underneath it. The Chesnuts built a swimming pool in this area in the late 1980s that has since been filled in with concrete. Today, this area is the home to many weddings that take place in front of the scenic brick wall.
